Maxi Hamatschek in a personal conversation with Yağmur Yaşar

Maxi Hamatschek
Always on the go, rarely a break – and suddenly my back locks up: Yağmur knows the feeling when the body doesn’t cooperate as one wishes anymore. In conversation with MKLR., she openly shares how she experienced her daily life in the past – and how she managed to become more mobile, pain-free, and above all, calmer step by step.
MKLR: Yağmur, when you think back to the time before coaching – how did you feel physically?
Yağmur: To be honest? Not well. I had problems with my lower back almost every morning; just getting up was stiff. It sounds trivial, but even tying my shoes became uncomfortable all of a sudden. My job doesn’t make it better: a lot of sitting, a lot of traveling, never really time for movement. I always intended to do more sports, but after long workdays, I was just exhausted. Over time, it got worse until I had hardly any balance at all.
MKLR: Was there a moment that was a turning point for you?
Yağmur: Definitely. That was on a business trip, once again in a hotel. I wanted to tie my shoes in the morning – and it pulled so painfully in my back that I thought for a moment: “Okay, what do I do now?” At that moment, I realized: This can’t go on. A friend recommended MKLR. to me – she had had good experiences herself. I was initially skeptical because I had no desire for the next standard online program. But she said it’s very different, much more personal. That made me curious.
MKLR: How was your start at MKLR. – how did the first coaching session go?
Yağmur: Total relaxed. From the very beginning, I had a fixed contact person in Merlin – that really made a difference. In the first conversation, we didn’t even talk directly about training plans, but rather how I was actually doing – physically, but also mentally. We then thought together about how I could realistically incorporate movement into my daily life without completely overturning everything. In the end, it turned out to be small sessions in the morning, short breaks during the day, exercises that I could even do in the hotel room. So nothing that requires overcoming, but rather like: “Hey, I can really do this.”
MKLR: And how has your daily life changed because of the coaching?
Yağmur: More than I expected! After a few weeks, I had much less pain and was much more mobile. That stiff feeling in the morning was eventually gone – and for the first time in a long time, I had trust in my body again. It may sound cheesy, but I suddenly knew: I can do something about it myself and stay committed even in stressful phases. And Merlin is just super supportive – it never feels like pressure, but always like “We’re doing this together.” This personal support really makes the difference.
MKLR: What would you advise others who have similar problems as you?
Yağmur: Don’t wait until nothing works anymore! You don’t have to wait for total pain to start. For me, the biggest realization was: It’s often the small, clever steps that really help – not the big revolution. Today, I no longer have chronic pain, I am much more mobile, and I have more energy for everything coming up. And I can honestly say: I didn’t expect that at all.
Almost everyone knows the feeling when the back starts acting up again – but it doesn’t have to stay that way. Yağmur’s story shows: It doesn’t require a radical change, just the courage to start – and someone who supports you on this journey.
